Actuarial Pricing Manager – Personal Lines Insurance

We are currently recruiting for a major multi-brand Personal Lines insurer for an Actuarial Pricing Manager working across all products (Motor, Home, Pet, Travel).

We are looking for a highly experienced Pricing professional or Reserving Actuary to lead detailed and sophisticated analysis in order to support the Underwriting and Pricing departments in achieving targeted profitability and loss ratios. This is a critical, in-depth role delivering analysis and insights, and partnering with wide range of business areas including UW, Pricing, Claims and Finance, to drive company performance.

The role will involve Forecasting LR’s as well as more project/transformation based work to enhance the approach to, and sophistication of, forecasting models.

Experience in Forecasting (e.g. Ultimate Loss Ratio projections) will be greatly beneficial, as would some degree of managerial or leadership experience.

Role

• Forecasting accuracy oversight – lead the team in producing precise pricing forecasts around key metrics such as profitability and loss ratios, validating assumptions and inputs, and ensuring that models are robust against market trends, and aligned to business objectives
• Data analysis and insight generation – interpret complex data to deliver actionable insights, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities that inform strategic pricing decisions
• Business Alignment and Stakeholder Communication – collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as sales, finance, underwriting and operations, to ensure that forecasts reflect business objectives and inform organizational decision-making
• Process optimization and methodology enhancement – continuously refine forecasting approach and processes, integrating best practices, advanced analytics, and automation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and relevance of outputs
• Mentorship and team development – guide and develop team members, promoting analytical rigor, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to addressing forecasting challenges.
• Reporting and decision support – prepare clear, insightful reporting for senior management, translating technical forecasts into actionable recommendations that support pricing strategies and business planning

Requirements

• Extensive experience in insurance pricing or reserving
• Expertise in actuarial methods and principles, ideally within pricing, ideally some experience of Forecasting/ Projections
• Degree in a numerate subject (Actuarial qualification would be a plus, but not required)
• Proven ability to lead complex analysis and translate insights into business outcomes
• Experience managing or mentoring analysts and building high-performing teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
