This position offers the chance to lead Household pricing across a major personal lines portfolio, setting direction, elevating analytical capability, and ensuring pricing decisions are grounded in strong commercial and risk understanding. You’ll be the key driver behind how models evolve, how data is used, and how pricing supports long‑term business performance.
You’ll be stepping into a role with real breadth and influence. From overseeing the full lifecycle of pricing models to guiding a talented team of analysts, you will be at the centre of how the organisation navigates market dynamics, manages risk, and delivers sustainable profitability. Your work will directly influence decision‑making at senior levels while helping shape the next generation of pricing talent.
Key Responsibilities
As Household Pricing Manager, you will:
- Lead, manage and develop a team of around five pricing analysts at Analyst, Senior and Lead levels
- Oversee trading performance, ensuring pricing outcomes align with commercial targets
- Approve predictive and machine‑learning models, promoting best practice throughout the team
- Enhance data quality, governance and modelling datasets
- Own the development, maintenance and deployment of pricing models
- Produce clear insight, recommendations and reports for pricing committees
- Lead rate deployment, including sending instructions and validating rate releases in the live environment
- Combine MI, modelling outputs and business objectives to form a clear view of performance and future direction
- Support forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning
- Maintain accurate records to coordinate pricing decisions across teams and governance structures
- Manage pricing projects throughout the full price‑control cycle
- Influence senior leadership and deputise for senior managers when required
You’ll play a pivotal role in defining future risk pricing strategy, strengthening capability and contributing to wider business performance.
Skills & Experience Required
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in a numerical discipline
- Extensive insurance pricing or analytical experience
- Strong coding skills (e.g. SAS) for advanced data manipulation
- Experience with predictive modelling (Logistic Regression, GLMs, GBMs, Elastic Net, GAMs, Decision Trees, Random Forests etc.)
- Proficiency in Python and/or SQL
- Experience using tools such as Emblem, Radar or Databricks
- Proven ability to solve complex business problems using analytics
- Experience coaching and developing junior pricing professionals
- Strong influencing skills with stakeholders up to director level
- Ability to translate complex statistical concepts into clear business language
- Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
- Self‑motivation, initiative and a collaborative approach
